Naval Marine Engineering: Technical Superintendent
Main duties and responsibilities
- Ensure the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of assigned vessels.
- Implement and oversee compliance with the Company’s Management System for shipboard and departmental activities.
- Monitor the performance, technical condition, and operational status of assigned vessels.
- Ensure prudent financial management and budgetary discipline.
- Arrange repairs and oversee dry dockings.
- Ensure vessels are fully certified according to international standards and implement new regulations as required.
- Brief and debrief sign on/off Chief and 2nd Engineers on technical matters related to the vessel, with a focus on outstanding PMS tasks.
- Prepare technical reports for owners in accordance with the management agreement.
- Supervise and coordinate matters related to vessel registration, flagging, selling, and purchasing.
- Commit to the highest standards of Safety and Environmental Protection.
- Foster and promote a strong safety culture, as well as environmental and energy awareness, on assigned vessels.
- Provide technical and operational support to shipboard management.
- Promptly identify and resolve technical issues.
- Prepare and manage budgets for technical operations.
Qualifications
- University degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
- Previous working experience as Superintendent engineer in the tanker sector with a minimum of two (2) years in a similar position will be a asset.
- Experience in Drydocking projects will be considered a strong plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team
- Flexibility for frequent travelling is required.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Proficient computing skills.
